Prague Photo Gallery

To begin my project, I visited Prague to see Mucha's works and their impact. Some highlights from my trip included the Mucha Museum and the Municipal Building.
Mucha Museum

This was my first stop in Prague! I viewed the different eras of Mucha's works, ranging from his decorative panels to sketches of his Slavic Epic.

This museum, and the other Mucha Museum in the city, demonstrated how Mucha rose to fame. Through his posters for famed actress, Sarah Bernhardt, Mucha became an in-demand artist. His works were heavily featured throughout Paris as he build his reputation in the graphic arts, working his slavic roots into his designs.
St. Vitus Cathedral

Mucha's stained glass window in the Cathedral was a stunning depiction of Czech saints and historical figures. Painted to have more detail, viewers can see the care Mucha put into celebrating his heritage.

The St. Vitus Cathedral is located at the site of Prague Castle. Also nearby is the infamous "defenestration window" where three separate defenestrations occurred.
Municipal Building Tour

On my tour, I learned about the various rooms in the municipal building, each carefully constructed by Czech artists as the nation began to form its own identity. I saw how Mucha's involvement was crucial to celebrating Slavic heritage and creating many "firsts" for his fellow citizens, such as their first bank notes and municipal building.
